About the BioMotion Tour
The Biomotion Tour is a part of the BioMotion (Biofuels in Motion) project and is aimed at promoting information about Biofuels as well as raising the level of awareness about them. The project partners and their regional cooperation partners will demonstrate the use of vehicles powered by Biofuels. Vehicle manufacturers and dealers in the participating countries provide vehicles powered by ethanol, plant oil, bio diesel and biogas. Particular activities and beacons in the regions concerned with the production, distribution and usage of Bio fuels will be involved in this. Along the journey route, info-stops and action days are organized to offer information to the general public and exchange information about Biofuels with a wide range of organizations and officials.
The BioMotion project
BioMotion aims to increase the use, knowledge and acceptance of biofuels. Given that one of the main obstacles to the use of biofuels is a lack of awareness and insufficient knowledge, BioMotion will create a solid and extensive knowledge platform. An international cluster of relevant actors and seven biofuel information centres will be established. A number of highly visible examples, or "beacons", will be used to demonstrate the use of various raw materials for the production of different biofuels on a commercial scale. The BioMotion-Tour, with vehicles powered by several types of biofuels, will show the advantages of using biofules. The project should encourage the development of biofuel supply chains and highlight market opportunities, particularly in rural areas.
In addition to professional advice, the project contains specific motivation and PR actions aimed at particular target groups in accordance with the motto: Bio fuels in Motion by Information and Motivation.
In order to support the specialist information service, regional examples of best practice (beacons) will be included which feature stakeholders involved in the ‘from field to tank’ bio fuel value creation chain.
Intelligent Energy Europe
The Intelligent Energy – Europe [IEE] programme works to make Europe more competitive and innovative while, at the same time, helping it to deliver on its ambitious climate change objectives.
By 2020, the EU is committed to:
> 20% less greenhouse gas emissions
> 20% better energy efficiency
> 20% share of renewables
By improving energy efficiency and encouraging the wider uptake of new and renewable energies, the IEE programme aims to boost actions which will help achieve the EU’s targets, including measures to:
- foster energy efficiency and the rational use of energy resources
- promote new and renewable energy sources and to support the diversification of energy sources
- promote energy efficiency and the use of new and renewable energy sources in transport such as biofuels.
